Next up: Brescia

This Saturday Reggina takes on Brescia in the latest round of the Coppa Italia….

So we took care of Arezzo 3-0 in our last Coppa match, and from what I heard it was a rather uninspiring performance but we did what we had to do. Goals came from Volpi (pen), Brienza, and Missiroli. This weekend will be our biggest test yet against one of the other main contenders for promotion this season. If anyone out there finds any way to watch this match from the USA, let me know.

I don’t really have anything to say, but I wanted to give a quick update on the market. Nothing happened at all this week other than a delay in the loan move of Hallfredsson to Barnsley. This week has allowed me to keep a glimmer of hope that he will stick around. I’ve read that he isn’t really happy about this move and would prefer to stay in Reggio, but oh well. I guess tomorrow it will finally be made official and Emil will be out of our lives

The goal for the remainder of the market is one more attacker and a central defender. Lorenzo Ariaudo, the Juve starlet, is still a name floating around. Although there is some competition from the top flight with Bari showing some interest. If we can convince Juventus that we can give him the greatest chance to play and gain experience, we should be able to land him. The idea of Parma’s Magnus Troest is pretty much out the window. He doesn’t want to go back to Serie B and now he’s going on trial with someone in England.

As for the attack, Daniele Cacia and Salvatore Mastronunzio are likely suitors. Lecce wants 3 mil for Cacia which could prove to be too much. Negotiations for Cacia were attempted earlier this week but nothing came out of it. Mastronunzio is a little more in our price range and we might be more likely to land him. Regardless, I think we are pretty set with Brienza and Bonazzoli.

So anyway, I’m looking forward to this Saturday and hope all turns out well against Brescia. Then, it’s time to put calcio on hold for a night as I attend my fantasy football (american) draft. FORZA REGGINA!
