Reggina in Serie B
By: Dan | July 13th, 2009
Ciao Reggina supporters! I’ve noticed the Reggina blog has been inactive for a while.. and the relegation to Serie B meant that it would probably the end of it. But I’ve decided to take it over and post my thoughts and emotions as we begin this journey back to the top.
Let me give you a little background about myself. I’ve really only started following calcio recently in my life (early 2000’s), but I live for Reggina and have no allegiance to any other team (except maybe Pescara). My passion simply stems from my family roots in Reggio Calabria. I have a love affair with Emil Hallfredsson and I’m hoping he doesn’t move this summer. If I can’t sneak a live stream of a midweek match on my computer at work, then I will no doubt be tuned into Touring 104 with my earbuds plugged in. It’s not easy bleeding Amaranto day and night when the team gives you an aneurysm week after week. But it’s been a month or two since we were relegated and I can finally say that I’m in the acceptance stage. Relegation was a good thing.
Why you might ask? We just needed to start fresh. This will allow Reggina to once again establish a winning mentality. People in Reggio Calabria need to be excited about this team once again. The Stadio Granillo needs to become the intimidating fortress that it once was. Bringing in a proven winner like Walter Novellino is a huge step in the right direction. With his leadership we can accomplish these goals. He is a promotion expert (Venezia [RIP], Piacenza, Napoli) and is entering this new challenge with the highest of aspirations for this club. Novellino and president Foti are determined to get immediately back to the top flight.
The 2009-2010 Reggina campaign has officially been tagged with the motto “Sono Qui Per Vincere” (I’m here to win) and it has been tentatively been placed on the front of the new kits instead of a sponsor. I love this mentality and am ready to begin this journey.
So in the coming days I will follow this up with a pre-season report. We’ll discuss transfers, rumors, the current squad, training, new kits, schedules and other good stuff. Forza Reggina.

Welcome my friend! Nice first post.
I look forward to reading your blog! I am from England myself, although I have ties to Reggina as my family have been running holiday homes in Calabria for many years, mainly in Tropea.
Whilst I support my local team in England (Southampton), I follow Reggina as much as humanly possible, which will hopefully be made easier with your blog.
Good luck!

Welcome aboard! Reggina looked tired and resigned the last two seasons or so. Maybe this is the kick in the pants for Reggina to fight again.
